Mindfulness Hike: Oxbow Regional Park

Have you been looking for an excuse to get outdoors and connect with nature while the summer is still upon us? Join us for a hike rooted in Cherokee values and a practice called "ecotherapy." Through guided mindfulness activities, group sharing, and acts of reciprocity, ecotherapy hikes are a fun and safe way to reawaken your sense of kinship with the natural world.

Our hike will take us along the Ancient Forest Trail, a gorgeous area of old growth Douglas fir and cedar. From the elder trees enclosing the canopy, to the young saplings rising out of the understory, this forest reminds us of the importance each generation plays in our communities. Along the hike we stop to take part in mindfulness activities and connect with the western red cedar, cousins to atsina ᎠᏥᎾ, the Cherokee medicine tree. Our hike will end at the Sandy River. You can sign up for both this hike and the Larch Mountain hike on August 22 using this RSVP link.
