Mindfulness Hike: Larch Mountain Crater Loop Journey

Have you been looking for an excuse to get outdoors and connect with nature while the summer is still upon us? Join us for a hike rooted in Cherokee values and a practice called "ecotherapy." Through guided mindfulness activities, group sharing, and acts of reciprocity, ecotherapy hikes are a fun and safe way to reawaken your sense of kinship with the natural world.

Our hike begins at Sherrard Point, a 4,000-foot-high crest that offers incredible views of the Columbia Gorge and five Cascade volcanoes! Here, we will set our intentions for the hike and do group warm-up activities. The path descends into the crater of an ancient volcano that is now home to a stunning old growth forest. We will traverse a valley of berries, springs, bogs, and streams at the headwaters of Multnomah Creek. Along the way, we will make several stops for mindfulness activities and to connect with some nature "allies". On the final leg of the loop, we'll ascend back to the ridge, taking time to reflect on the journey and enjoy the views.

Location: Larch Mountain, Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area
Length: 7 miles
Difficulty: Challenging
Cost: Recreation Pass (no-fee option available 1/4 mile from parking lot)

You can sign up for this and the August 8 hike using this RSVP link.

Keep an eye out for other hikes that may be offered in September!
